WWE/AAA Worlds Collide 2025 Review

Octagon Jr., Aero Star, and Mr. Iguana vs lWo (Dragon Lee and Cruz Del Toro) & Lince Dorado

This match was so damn entertaining. No faces, no heels, just pure lucha goodness. I haven't even heard of Mr. Iguana going into this show, but after watching this match, he's probably the most over act in professional wrestling now. Them setting up a match for Money in the Bank afterwards was just pure brilliance.

★★★★

Stephanie Vaquer and Lola Vice vs Chik Tormenta and Dalys

I feel kind of bad that this is the only Women's match on the card, and I found it just okay. Not that it's anyone in the matches fault, just that it got the least amount of time on the card. Clocking in for just under 10 minutes, they put on a match you could very much find on television. Vaquer and Vice winning was the right decision, though.

★★★

Legado del Fantasma vs El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr., Pagano, and Psycho Clown

Despite Pagano botching a lot in this match, this was a really good showcase for Legado del Fantasma, which they really needed given they lose a lot on WWE television. Escobar, Wagner, and Psycho Clown were definite highlights of the match. Escobar especially felt like he was in King Cuerno form tonight.

★★★½

NXT North American Championship Match - Ethan Page vs Je'von Evans vs Laredo Kid vs Rey Fenix

Awesome North American title match. If I did have one flaw with this match, it's that I wished this was the match that had a title change. Other than that, this is the type of shenanigans you would see in a multi-man match on an NXT PPV, which is perfect. Everyone got time to shine here. I wonder if Jevon and Ethan are going to run it back after this.

★★★★

AAA Mega Championship Match - El Hijo del Vikingo vs Chad Gable

Match of the year candidate? I certainly think so. I remember being impressed with Vikingo all the way back in his stint in AEW, and he certainly didn't skip a beat here. Couple that with the workhorse that Chad Gable is, and you've got an instant classic in the making. Vikingo's high flying combined with Gable's technical abilities gel really well together.

★★★★★

PPV Grade:

Match Quality: 78/100
Show Structure: 95/100
Atmosphere: 90/100
Story: 60/100
Production: 70/100

Overall: C+ (78/100)

This was a really good showcase for what AAA can bring to the table. Plenty of new stars were created here tonight, and shows why Lucha Libre is so special. This show also did a good job of highlighting the history of AAA, and why it is so important to wrestling history. I really hope there are more shows like this in the future.
