TNA Genesis 2025 Review
TNA X-Division Championship - Moose vs Ace Austin
Fun opening contest, but I've just got to laugh at everyone making a big deal about Moose throwing away the X-Division Championship, afraid that TNA was getting rid of their signature title. When in actuality it was just a subtle design change for the title, nothing more. I do think Ace Austin should have won given how much focus they put on his tag team partner on commentary, but regardless fun match.
★★★½
The System vs Eric Young and Steve Maclin
I did like the seemless transition between the X-Division Championship match and this one. Such a fun, chaotic match that for once doesn't suffer from pacing issues thanks to Eddie Edwards. Over the past couple of months Young and Maclin have worked their asses off, and I think it's time they go after the Tag Team titles.
★★★★
TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Championships - Spitfire vs The Elegance Brand
This match was more back-and-forth than I was expecting, and at a couple of points I thought Ash and Heather were going to win, but Spitfire beat them yet again. Not really much to talk about this match, just a fun bout.
★★★½
Jordynne Grace vs Tessa Blanchard
While this is a really good match, and I mean really good with excellent chain wrestling and reversals, but the ending just absolutely killed the vibe. I do appreciate that the crowd absolutely hated Tessa here (even at one point chanted "She's a racist"), it really gives me hope that there are crowds out there that don't accept everything they are given, especially when these companies willingly hire bigots like her and Hulk Hogan.
★★★★½
"I Quit" Match - Josh Alexander vs Mike Santana
Was not expecting a lot from this match, but they told a genuinely compelling story throughout the match. The commentators also did a great job painting the story between these two during the awesome exchanges.
★★★★★
TNA World Tag Team Championships - The Hardys vs The Rascalz
A fun dream match that did a great job of setting up further matches down the line. I wasn't expecting Fraxiom to show up at ring side, but it does make sense given The Rascalz never got their earned NXT Tag title shot because of Wes Lee. I'm surprised that despite The Hardys' age, they're able to innovate new offense.
★★★★
Clockwork Orange House of Fun Match for the TNA Knockouts World Championship - Masha Slamovich vs Rosemary
Not nearly as violent as I was expecting, but a really good back-and-forth match between these two with plenty of spots. There was one scary spot with Masha hitting her head on a two-table fall, but luckily she was okay afterwards. Does kind of end abruptly for being the first Knockouts Clockwork Orange House of Fun Match, but I've seen plenty of worse matches.
★★★★
TNA World Championship - Nic Nemeth vs Joe Hendry
Typical Nic Nemeth title defense, with JBL laden interference near the end, but the match is really saved by the ending. TNA finally did the smart thing and pulled the trigger on their most over star. Joe Hendry finally won the big one and end Nemeth's mediocre title reign. The upcoming Impact is one to look forward to.
★★★½
PPV Grade:

An overall excellent showing for TNA Wrestling, especially for their first PPV ever promoted by WWE. The commentators did a great job of getting across the history of TNA, making it extremely easy to get into the storylines.
